How to Get Into a Kayak From a Waterbody

Getting into a kayak from water is a bit difficult than climbing the vessel from a dock or beaches. Follow the below steps :

  1. Place the Kayak in the Right Position 
    If the scenario is as such you are in the water and want to get back into your watercraft, the important thing is you need to maintain two things-your vessels and the paddle simultaneously. If your vessel is upside down, hold the kayak close to the center where the seat is usually located and then roll it so that the vessel is getting back to the right position.

  1. Parallel the Kayak to a Dock or the Land
    Before making an attempt to get into a kayak from a dock or land, make sure that the vessel is secured and not go away when you climb on it. Whether you are on land or dock, position the kayak parallel to your climbing place.
  2. Keep a Hold of the Vessel
    It would be a frustrating thing for you if you attempt to climb on the boat but before climbing on it, the vessel floats away. To avert an incident like this, place the paddle on the dock in a secure position, hold the kayak’s seat or cockpit closet with one of your hands to make the vessel steady.
  3. Climb on the Kayak
    If the bow or front side of the kayak is on your left, place your right hand on the cockpit, to make the boat steady. Place your left hand on the dock or ground, put your right leg inside the cockpit, remove the right hand from the cockpit, and then place both of your rights and left hand on the ground. Put all of your body weight on your right and left arms when you lift your left leg from the ground and place it inside the cockpit closet. Finally, you are inside the watercraft and then start to paddle to go away from the dock or the shore.

The method is straddled the boat, lower your hip into the kayak’s seat, and then pull your legs one after another. Apply the reverse procedure when you leave the vessel.

How to Get Out of a Kayak

  1. Navigate the Kayak Towards a Dock or Shore
    Paddle the boat towards a dock or shore. If you are kayaking in the ocean, then it’s easier to paddle your watercraft towards the beach until it gets stuck on the sand.
  2. Stabilize the Kayak
    When you exit the kayak, it is quite important that you keep the watercraft steady. Place one end of the paddle behind the kayak seat and the other end on the dock. This way your kayak will get high stability. If you get another kayaker nearby, request him to pull his vessel close to you, hold your vessel with one of his hands when you exit your kayak. If you are kayaking on a tandem kayak, that’s also a good news since one kayaker will stabilize the vessel to facilitate the other paddler to climb out of the boat.
  3. Climbing Out of the Kayak
    When you’re close to the dock, position your body towards it, place both hands on the ground, put all of your body weight on your arms but keep your knees not too far away so that your kayak can’t float away. When all of your body weight is resting on your left and right arm, lift one leg one after another onto the dock, but don’t push the vessel with your legs because it may result in falling on the water.
